A visit to CALifornia then Setting up the Studio
Grove House Sewing Studio is almost open and I’m so excited! I can’t wait to finish setting up the beautiful space and welcome students. (A huge thank you to Lily Belldale who is handing over the location as she heads out on maternity leave and to start her new life adventure.)
Before opening I had a lovely visit with my parents in Southern California. (I also got to visit the namesake of my business, the Grove House at Pitzer College.) The weather was brisk and bright and the smell of citrus blossoms was carried on the breeze. I dragged my parents on neighborhood fruit picking adventures to glean overhanging oranges and lemons from alleyways and sidewalks then turned their kitchen into a maker-space for candied and dried peels as well as some AMAZING marmalade.
But the Studio was close to mind the entire holiday. I visited a wonderful craft supply rescue store called Remainders, located in Altadena where the Eaton fire caused profound damage, and was met by a throng of eager and happy crafters gathering beautiful rescued materials. I scored lots of thread and trimmings. I also stopped into a thriving sewing studio in my hometown of Claremont CA and got to observe a children’s sewing class.
I am now back in Northampton and just delivered the sewing desks and materials to the space today!
